Beloved,
today I want to speak about something very simple, yet very deep.
It is about Jesus Christ — and the surprising way He shows us the heart of God.
When most people think of Jesus, they imagine a strong leader, a great teacher, a wise adult who had everything under control. But if we read the Gospels carefully, we discover something beautiful and unexpected:
Jesus lived with the heart of a child.
Not childish… not immature… but child-like: pure, honest, trusting, open, and completely joined to His Father in heaven.
Let me explain what I mean.
1. Jesus lived in complete purity
We never see Jesus chasing pleasures, competing with others, or trying to impress people. His heart was clear. His love was clean. He was not interested in the things adults often chase after — power, money, attention, approval.
He lived the way a child lives before the world teaches them to pretend or to hide.
His whole heart belonged to God the Father, the way a little child’s heart belongs entirely to a parent they trust.
And this is the first lesson for us:
The path to God is found in a pure and simple heart.
2. Jesus showed honest emotions
Do you remember when Jesus entered the Temple and saw the corruption?
He reacted strongly, throwing over the tables.
That was not a political move. That was pure, honest passion — like a child who cannot pretend when something is wrong.
Or when Jesus wept over Jerusalem… He didn’t hide His tears.
He didn’t act like a stone or a soldier. He let His sorrow be seen.
Or when He blessed the little children… He didn’t care what the important people thought. He reached out with joy, with affection, with tenderness.
This is how children live: their hearts are on the surface.
And Jesus lived this way, not because He lacked control, but because He had nothing to hide.
He teaches us that God values a heart that is honest and open.
3. Jesus trusted His Father completely
Again and again He says:
- “I do nothing by myself.”
- “I only do what the Father shows me.”
- “My teaching is not my own.”
This is the voice of a Son who knows His Father deeply.
This is the voice of perfect trust.
We live in a world that tells us:
“Be independent. Prove yourself. Rely on no one.”
But Jesus shows a different way:
the way of trust, the way of dependence, the way of the child who knows they are safe in the Father’s hands.
4. Jesus taught with childlike simplicity
His teachings are short, shocking, clear:
- “Blessed are the pure in heart.”
- “Love your enemies.”
- “Let the dead bury their dead.”
- “Unless you become like little children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Adults complicate things.
Jesus returns everything to the center:
Trust God. Love God. Love your neighbor.
Nothing he says is difficult to understand — only difficult to live, because we have forgotten the simple life of the heart.
5. Jesus revealed the Father through His childlike spirit
When you look at a child who trusts their parent completely, you see something sacred: a picture of love, of safety, of unity. Jesus lived in that unity every day.
He did not walk around saying, “Look at me.”
He lived every moment saying, “Look at My Father.”
He came to show us the Father’s compassion, the Father’s goodness, the Father’s patience, the Father’s mercy — and He showed it not with cold theology, but with the softness and sincerity of a child who knows He is beloved.
6. The invitation: Become like children again
Jesus said something very direct:
“Unless you become like little children, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
He did not say:
“Become childish.”
He did not say:
“Become naïve.”
He meant:
- Become trusting again
- Become sincere again
- Become free from show and pretense
- Become pure in heart
- Become open to love
- Become humble, honest, dependent on God like children depend on their parents
This is not weakness.
This is the way Jesus Himself lived.
7. Closing Word
My friends, when we lose our childlike heart, we lose the doorway to God. Jesus came not only to save us, but also to restore our lost childhood — that simple, beautiful state where we can receive love without fear and give love without calculation.
So let us ask Him:
“Lord Jesus, teach us to become like You — simple, trusting, honest, pure, and open.
Teach us again how to be children of the Father.”
And may the childlike heart of Jesus Christ lead us all back into the arms of the Father who loves us.
